1915 FRED C. CLARKE 2 PAGE LETTER FROM RICHMOND
The offered typed letter is dated September 14, 1915 on Richmond College stationary and is in response to the news that Pittsburgh Pirates manager Fred C. Clarke had announced his retirement from the game. Reads in part: "My dear Mr. Clarke, The papers tell us of your decision to retire from the game, and as one who has always followed your career with interest ever since you broke into big league ball with the Louisville club, I write to express my admiration and good wishes to you..." The letter is signed at the conclusion by Richmond College professor W.J. Young in black fountain pen. Please see the pictures for more detail.
